About Challenge

A 12-sessions cognitive development program that develops the human capacities AI cannot replicate.

For students in High School. Led by a Swiss-credentialed cognitive neuroscientist.

AI can help write a student's essay. It can solve their math problems. It can draft their research paper. The output looks good. Sometimes it looks excellent. But here is the question that should keep parents up at night: If the machine can do the thinking, what happens to the thinker?

FirstSignal answers that question. Not with reassurance. With evidence.

Over 12 sessions, students will discover what they can do that AI cannot replicate. They will develop it deliberately. And they will leave the program with a documented personal cognitive profile that proves it.

Three Capacities That Become More Valuable as AI Becomes More Capable

  • Contextual Judgment: Reading what AI cannot: Subtext, nuance, relational dynamics, cultural complexity. The situations that matter most in life and career are the ones where data alone is not enough.
  • Affective Regulation: The student's emotional state determines the quality of their thinking. FirstSignal teaches them to notice when anxiety, frustration, or social pressure is restricting their cognitive access, and to manage it deliberately.
  • Metacognitive Agency: The ability to notice when they are outsourcing thinking they should own, and to reclaim it. Not anti-AI. Pro-agency. The student decides when to use AI. The reflex does not decide for them.

The Four Phases

  • Sessions 1 to 3: Mapping Your Own Cognition. Students discover what they actually do when they think, versus what they assume.
  • Sessions 4 to 6: The No-Stakes Laboratory. Using AI as a sparring partner to build intellectual courage and error tolerance. No grades, no judgment, no social consequence.
  • Sessions 7 to 9: Reading the Gap. Identifying precisely what AI output misses, and why only human judgment can close that gap.
  • Sessions 10 to 12: The Irreducible You. Building a personal cognitive profile: documented, evidence-based proof of what the student can do that AI cannot.

What FirstSignal Is Not

Clarity about what the program is not is as important as clarity about what it is:

  • Not an AI literacy course. The program does not teach students how to use AI tools. It uses AI interaction as a medium for cognitive development. Students will become better at using AI as a byproduct, but that is not the objective.
  • Not a study skills program. There are no generic study tips, time management frameworks, or learning style inventories. The program targets specific, measurable cognitive capacities with clinically grounded methodology.
  • Not a coding or STEM bootcamp. FirstSignal is domain-agnostic. It works with students across all academic tracks because the cognitive capacities it develops are universal, not discipline-specific.
  • Not a clinical program or mental health intervention. While affective regulation is a core component, the program is a cognitive development program, not therapy or a clinical intervention at all. Students with clinical mental health needs should be referred to appropriate services.

Program Details

  • 12 sessions, three 90-minute live Zoom session per week
  • Maximum 18-20 students per cohort
  • 30 to 45 minutes of structured between-sessions practice
  • Portfolio-based assessment (no tests, no grades)
  • Culminating deliverable: a personal cognitive profile

For high school students, all academic tracks

Who Leads This Program

Amelia Enginco-Figueroa / Program Lead and Facilitator

MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience (University of Fribourg, Switzerland). Certified PsyCH Trainer (Switzerland).

BSc Psychology Cum Laude (De La Salle University-Lipa). Former school counselor, undergraduate and graduate school faculty. Her work with students focuses on how the brain processes, stores, and retrieves information under conditions of pressure. This is not a tech course taught by a technologist. It is a cognitive development program built on clinical neuroscience.

Ottmar Figueroa / Operations and Strategy

MBA, MSc in Clinical Psychology (candidate). 25 years of worldwide experience with United Nations in IT governance & policy, digital strategy, data analytics and business intelligence at C-level roles. Ensures the AI components are not academic abstraction but grounded in real professional experience with how AI is changing professional requirements..

Program Fee: PHP 7,200

Full 12-sessions program. Clinical-grade cognitive development methodology. Personal cognitive profile. Limited to 18-20 students per cohort.

In a world where machines can think, the question is no longer what the student knows. It is how they think.

FirstSignal gives them the answer. And the evidence to prove it.

Instructions

First Signal is an innovative youth cognitive development program designed and delivered by a clinically credentialed cognitive neuroscientist.

It is built on a proprietary methodology (The Human Differential) that uses AI interaction as a controlled environment for developing the specific cognitive capacities that become more valuable as AI becomes more capable: Contextual judgment, affective regulation under cognitive load, and metacognitive agency.

It does not teach students about AI. It does not teach students to use AI. It uses AI as the medium through which students discover, develop, and document the irreducible human capacities that will define academic and professional differentiation in an AI-saturated world.

For parents investing in their children's future, First Signal provides a concrete, credible, clinically grounded answer to the question that should keep them up at night: In a world where machines can think, what will make my child irreplaceable?

The answer is not what they know. It is how they think.
