Our focus on perspective-taking is why MESC makes cultural context a priority in our decision-making about what speakers, topics, and educational events to organize or support, and why we value cultural immersion. Our community comes together for a wide variety of events that can expand your horizons and give you the opportunity to understand new cultural perspectives. Professors and their research bring us the opportunity to explore times and places that may require us to develop an understanding of a radically different worldview. Communicating across cultural differences also requires perspective-taking ability to avoid misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions. Perspective-taking ability maximizes the impact of this research and the cross-cultural experiences we have as part of a multi-national community.
