I used to think social media was for influencers. Not consultants.
I was wrong.
And that mistake nearly cost me my entire marketing budget before my private practice had seen its first patient.
When I was setting up Pneumologix, I did what most of us do.
I started getting quotes from marketing agencies.
£500/month retainer. Another £600/month on top for ad spend.
That's £13,000 a year — before a single patient had walked through my door.
I said no.
Not because I didn't believe in marketing. But because I'd already learned something from building my finance YouTube channel: you don't spend money you haven't made yet.
So I figured it out myself.
Here's where I am now.
My TikTok (@drsumanpaul) reaches 90,000 people every month organically and gathered 2000 Followers. No paid ads.It was started 8 months ago.
My finance channel — @sumanpauldoc — has grown to 23,000 subscribers over last 3 years and is fully monetised with brand deals.
I post daily on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook. I put out one long YouTube video every month.
I do all of this while working as an NHS Consultant, leading COPD services, running a private clinic across Manchester/Liverpool, and seeing patients every week.
I'm not telling you this to impress you.
I'm telling you because I know what you're thinking.
"That's great for you, Suman. But I don't have time for this."
I hear that. And I want to show you why that's not actually the barrier you think it is.
The honest truth about social media for UK doctors.
Most of us were never taught this.
Nobody at medical school sat us down and said: "One day, you'll need to market yourself. Here's how."
So when we eventually look at it, it feels overwhelming. Or worse — we hand it over to an agency who posts generic health tips that sound nothing like us and wonder why it doesn't work.
Here's what I've learned after doing this for real:
Social media for private practice is not about going viral.
It's about being findable. Being credible. Being the person a patient thinks of when they finally decide to stop putting off that appointment.
And it is completely doable — even with a clinical job, a family, and zero background in content creation.
You just need the right workflow.
I want to share mine with you.
I'm offering a private 1:1 call — just us — where I walk you through exactly what I do, what I use, and what I'd do differently if I were starting from scratch today.
This isn't a webinar. There's no pitch at the end.
It's a straight conversation between two UK clinicians — one of whom has spent the last one year figuring out what actually works.
Here's what we'll cover:
Who this call is for.
You're a UK doctor, consultant, or clinician.
You're building a private practice — or seriously thinking about it.
You've looked at social media and either felt lost, or got burned by an agency that delivered very little.
You're not looking for someone to do it for you forever. You want to understand it well enough to build something sustainable yourself.
That's exactly who I built this for.
Who this call is not for.
If you're happy outsourcing everything and have the budget for it — genuinely, that's fine. This isn't for you.
If you're looking for a shortcut that requires no effort or consistency — I can't help with that either.
Social media works. But it requires showing up. I'll show you how to do that without it taking over your life.
One more thing.
When I started my practice, I had no patients, no referral network, and no marketing playbook.
I figured this out the hard way — late nights, wrong tools, posts that flopped, and a lot of learning from failure.
I now have a workflow that genuinely works around clinical life. And I'd love to save you the months I spent figuring it out.
If that sounds useful — book a call. Let's talk.
