The largest religious complex in the world. Stretching over 400 km2, constructed between 1113 and 1150 CE, Angkor's ancient capital contains the magnificent remains of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. I arrived to main area of the Siem Reap province by bike, driving through the small local villages flooded by the Tuk Tuk drivers and their families who live there. Very welcomed by humble and generous people, my drone took off from a vast humid jungle to depict the monuments from above. The striking aerial photography turned one of the most important archaeological sites in Asia into powerful architecture and artistic significance. Witness to a high level of social order and ranking, the national symbol in Siem Reap gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple. Highlighting symmetry, texture and a strong relationship between history and landscape in Cambodia. A unique story behind the picture.
