"White hope" - a remote family house in Iceland surviving extreme cold (Fine Art Framed Print, limited edition)

One typical stamp of South East of Iceland is a family house very near a waterfall. Traditionally, the islanders relied on agriculture and livestock farming. As a historical land use, the abundant fresh liquid was the primary source of energy and Icelandic farms were naturally located close for survival. Even today, many locals live nearby waterfalls to install geothermal heating and micro-hydroelectric systems providing constant supply of water for livestock. This remote white house in Mýrdalshreppur is no exception. Only reachable by car through a muddy path, it made me stop immediately while driving through the heavy winds. It provides hope to families that resist extreme cold and harsh weather conditions. The raw open terrain offers a minimalistic composition only in the eyes of those who really pay attention in the route. A unique story behind the picture.
