"The Blue Pearl" - The colorful Chefchaouen in a Moroccan alley (Fine Art Framed Print, limited edition)

A quiet street in Morocco became the perfect scene for a unique vivid blue tones combination. Chefchaouen is known as "The Blue Pearl" because of its exotic color all over the streets. Morocco was my first country traveling completely alone by myself. A whole month immersed into a new and completely different culture for me. Constantly surprised by the magic of its ancient villages, this were my first pictures captured and a long way of mistakes to learn. This narrow alley turns into a striking visual escape, balancing architectural detail with the calm intensity of monochrome blue. Many theories go around the reason of the color in Chaouen. A religious tradition is most widely attributed to the Jewish refugees who settled in the city in the 1930s. In Judaism, blue represents the sky as a constant reminder of heaven. Probably the most popular theory (and the one local people explained to me personally) suggests that the shade of blue mimics flowing water naturally acts as a repellent for mosquitoes and other pests. What we can assure is that bright blue pigments absorb less heat, keeping the interiors of the homes significantly cooler during hot summers. A unique story behind the picture.
