About

The Concept

Calling all theatre fans or those who are theatre-curious. TRYBZ Theatre Nights is about making theatre accessible, creating a welcoming community to go with, and broadening your horizons to productions and theatres you may not know about.

With the help of Matthew P (theatre reviewer and mega-fan) we will be bringing you a range of theatre options from new West End shows to up-and-coming fringe productions.

This won't just be about going to a show, but about building a community of theatre fans, as we will also be having pre- and post-show meet-ups to discuss all things theatre and beyond.

The Show

So without further ado, we are bringing you one of the hottest theatre tickets of the year…

Electra/Persona at the National Theatre, starring the phenomenal Cate Blanchett, alongside Nina Hoss and Ella Lily Hyland.

This is not your standard Greek tragedy night. Electra/Persona fuses Sophocles’ ancient myth with Ingmar Bergman’s iconic 1966 film Persona, bringing together grief, identity, silence, performance and psychological unravelling in what promises to be a thrillingly intense evening at the theatre.

During a performance of Electra, an actress suddenly falls silent. What follows is an unsettling encounter between two women, where speech begins to break down and the boundaries between self and role start to blur.

And then there is the cast. Cate Blanchett returns to the National Theatre in this world-premiere production, reuniting with her Tár co-star Nina Hoss, with Ella Lily Hyland completing the central cast. The production is adapted and directed by Benedict Andrews, whose work includes A Streetcar Named Desire, with music by Oscar-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir.

This is prestige, psychological, properly theatrical drama — the sort of production people will absolutely be talking about. We have secured seats in the stalls, so this is a brilliant chance to see a major international cast up close at one of London’s most iconic theatres.
